Introduction - About Me.

Hello, everyone! My name is Hannah and I'm a senior majoring in Russian Language and Literature.

I both go to school and work at OU - I'm the on-staff Russian tutor for student athletes. (Yes, there are athletes that take Russian!) I am happily married to a bearded computer science major and we have two dogs. Freyja is a German Shorthaired Pointer and B (just the letter B) is some sort of Australian Cattle Dog/Pitbull/Heinz 57 mix. I actually have an instagram account for my dogs, because I'm a little obsessed with them…

My hobbies include messing with my dogs, painting, photography, and doing whatever I can outside. My favorite jobs involved working with animals; I worked on a hobby farm as a ranch hand and spent two years at a doggy daycare.. My husband and I try to go camping or hiking as often as possible and our favorite destination is the Pecos Wilderness in New Mexico. In addition to being avid campers, we are also hammock enthusiasts (as weird as that sounds) and recently started our own Adventure blog where we post DIY tips and document our own trips.

I enjoy reading immensely, but tend to watch too much TV anyway. Right now I am reading The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith and trying to make my way through the X Files. My favorite books are the Harry Potter series and Lord of the Rings (cliche, but who cares.) and my favorite TV show is Parks and Recreation.

I also have an undying love for breakfast foods. Anytime, any day, I am down for breakfast food. I’m not talking about dry and boring cardboard cereal flakes, but of the artery clogging eggs, biscuits, french toast, fried potatoes, pancakes, and waffles kind of breakfast - it’s an addiction that I don’t plan on rectifying.

  1. Hannah, your blog is super cute! I love all of your pictures of your dogs too! My roommate was in Russian for three semesters so I know how difficult the language can be, but that is so cool that you are up to the challenge! I am with you on the breakfast food thing. Chicken and waffles is my go to meal. The picture of you and your husband camping is also very sweet!

  2. Hey Hannah! Your dogs are cute! I’m trying to be more outdoorsy myself, but coming from the desert, I have no tolerance with most bug bites here. I love Parks & Rec too, along with The Office and 30 Rock. I have read Yes Please! and I enjoyed it because you get to see more of a hard edged side of Amy Poehler. I recommend Bossypants too by Tina Fey.

  3. I can tell that you put a lot of thought into creating this blog. I like the design of it. I am also a fan of Harry Potter and breakfast food during anytime of the day. You can’t go wrong with chocolate-chip waffles at Waffle House. You and your husband seem like a creative and an adventurous couple. Your dogs are extremely cute and photogenic. I won’t complain if you keep sharing pictures of them.

  4. Hey Hannah!

You and I have a lot in common! But, let me start off by saying you have some cute pups! I also love spending nights with my dog reading Harry Potter or watching some good Netflix. We recently went camping this summer at Medicine Park, but Robbers Cave is another favorite of mine! As an archaeologist I have a love hate relationship with camping in general, but on leisure time it is enjoyable! I hope your semester goes well for both you and your husband! And good luck with the tutoring!

  5. Hi, Hannah!

Your blog is adorable, and I am shamelessly about to follow your instagram of your dogs. I haven’t had a dog since I was in High School and I am trying to convince myself that now is not the right time to adopt (dogs and small apartments aren’t my forte haha).

I really admire you for your knowledge of Russian! What a challenging language! How did you begin studying it?

Meanwhile, reading about your love of breakfast foods has me craving them! Off to IHOP I go! ☺

  6. Your DIY adventures blog looks fantastic, Hannah! I bet those great pictures will inspire people to do their own campfood mixes. I might even make that for myself at home (I love rice noodles!). And as for foxes and bears, you are going to meet some great bears in the Ramayana because Rama's allies will be a huge army of monkeys and bears. And the bear king Jambavan even shows up in later mythology too because his daughter marries Krishna. Such good stuff... here is Jambavan in Wikipedia, just to give you a sneak preview:
    Jambavan
And, of course, I am sure you have met lots of great Russian bears in fairy tales and folklore...

  7. Hi Hannah,
I love dogs too. I would be obsessed with them too if I had dogs as my pets. I plan on getting a Yorkie and German Shepard when I am done with college. My friend introduced me to Parks and Recreation and I love that show! I been wanting to watch more episodes of it, but I my busy schedule does not leave much time for TV.

Hi Hannah! Your major sounds really interesting and rare. I also love dogs but don't own any yet. My dad is allergic to dogs so we can't buy one yet. Your dogs are so cute! I also love eating breakfast at any time of day. Good luck with everything this semester!

  9. Hey Hannah! I think it's great that you seem to have so many hobbies! Me and boyfriend have actually been looking for some nice places to go hiking here recently as the weather starts to cool down so I'll have to take a look at your blog! Your dogs are adorable! My favorite breakfast food is biscuits and gravy, the good old home cooked kind made from scratch, so yummy! About a year ago I made my way through every single episode of the X-Files on Netflix, and lets just say that sometimes I found it hard to go to sleep afterwards because I have a bit of an over imagination!

  10. Hi Hannah! I loved reading about your passion for the outdoors, it's really evident in your writing and your photographs! It's sometimes hard to get outdoors being in engineering, but I'm trying to make an effort this semester to really get out and explore the cool places around Norman more, mostly through Geocaching, which is a cool outdoor scavenger hunt type thing. Definitely going to check out your blog now, too! Also, that second picture of your dog is just beautiful. I'm incredibly jealous of the people who can have pets right now (strict no pet policy at my apartment...) but I'm making do with animal pictures for the moment. :)

  11. Hannah, I have never met a Russian Language and Literature major; that is awesome! I actually had the chance to tour the athletic academic center on Wednesday and was amazed by the facilities! I tutor occasionally, but mostly younger kids in math. I bet it is so rewarding to work with older students! Thanks for sharing pictures of your sweet family, I look forward to reading more of your writing as the semester progresses!

  12. Hannah!
As I was reading your intro, I noticed that we have a lot in common. My boyfriend and I have decided to make a blog and document our trips, so if you have any pointers that you could give, it would be helpful. I am also a fan of breakfast, anytime of the day. They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the deal, so why not eat it all day. Also, my boyfriend used to run track for OU two years ago and I had to tutor him in Spanish, so that is how we met.

  13. I love dogs and yours look especially playful. With regards to your undying love for breakfast foods, I feel that no other substance should be labelled "breakfast" foods. I personally also enjoy Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, but I have not spent as much time in the realm of Harry Potter as Lord of the Rings. Hope you find time to read and I myself will strive to work on watching less tv and reading more.

  14. Hi, Hannah. You actually remind me a lot of myself. I also have an undying love for my dog. I'm also thinking about getting another dog. My husband wants a Rottweiler, but I'm thinking German Shepherd. We may have to settle on getting both. I also have a love for photography, painting, and outdoors (although the painting aspect is not very developed, I tend to do a lot more drawing instead). I may have to follow your dogs on Instagram...

  15. I just think its crazy that there is a lot of Language majors in this class. How is learning Russian? I feel like it would be a very hard language to learn. Your dogs look really awesome to! I have never been camping. I have always wanted to but didn't have a chance. Are there any really good spots in Oklahoma?

  16. Hi, Hannah! I am fascinated that you are learning Russian. I am minoring in Spanish. How do you like immersing yourself in another language? It has been one of my favorite parts of being at OU. I also think the pictures of your dogs are absolutely adorable! I can't wait until my fiancé and I move in together and get our first dog!

  17. Hi Hannah! How cool that it you get to both study Russian and help others learn it! That is one language that has always fascinated me. My cousin is a freshman at the University of Georgia and is majoring in Russian. She has told us how difficult it is at times, but it so drawn to the language and hopes to study abroad in Russia at some point in her college career. So funny you live breakfast so much. I can definitely relate! I could eat breakfast food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every single day and never ever get tired of it.

  18. Hi Hannah! You're the first person I've ever met that is majoring in Russian Language and Literature. I think that is pretty cool. Your dogs are super cute! I like how you enjoy outdoor activities and photography. I am also a lover of breakfast foods! There is just too much yum! Anyway, I hope you have a great rest of the semester!

  19. Hi Hannah,
It sounds like you keep busy with everything. Your dogs look very sweet. That is funny that you have a instagram account just for your dogs. It is cool that you are so involved with the outdoors. I am not too much of an outdoorsman but with the time I do spend outside I enjoy it. I also love breakfast foods especially bacon. Good luck with your senior year.

  20. Hi Hannah,

My fiancee and I would have a wonderful time hanging out with you! Madison is a huge harry potter fan the biggest one I know of. What house are you in? What are some of your favorite places to go in oklahoma for hiking? I love going to Colorado to go hiking. We usually stay in Creede Colorado. That's outside of Lake City and a bit of a drive from Durango.

  21. H Hannah, it’s nice to get a chance to meet you before the semester ends! I think it is really cool that you are an avid camper, I have an addiction with backpacking. I will actually be going on a backpacking trip a week from today in the Guadalupe mountain range out in west Texas and I am so excited. Anyways, good luck with the rest of your semester and getting through finals week!
